Introduction
Dangerous Goods training is established as mandatory requirements by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in their Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air. The success of training depends on the ability of the Instructor to deliver correct and comprehensive training. According to IATA DGR 1.5.3 “instructors of initial and recurrent dangerous goods training programme must demonstrate or be assessed as competent in instruction and the functions that they will instruct prior to delivering such a Dangerous Goods programme.”
As per the new CBTA requirements, an assessor is needed for ensuring the continuous improvement of the effectiveness of a training program in meeting the level of competencies required.
The goal of competency-based training and assessment is to produce a competent workforce by providing focused training by knowledgeable and well-prepared instructors.
This training is designed to assist participants to understand the concept of CBTA and to implement this methodology in delivering or assessing Dangerous Goods Training as per the new ICAO and IATA requirements. It is developed in full accordance with recommendations established by IATA in the publication “Dangerous Goods training guidance – Competency-Based Training and Assessment Approach”, First Edition and ICAO Doc 10147 –“Guidance on a Competency-based Approach to Dangerous Goods Training and Assessment”.
